I have connections at Allen Edmonds corporate. The reason they discontinued the Dalton was due to the popularity of the dress shoe/boot going down due to Covid-19. Dress shoes in general were doing poorly in sales so they focused on sneakers 2021-2023 years. They are finally starting to see sales going up 2024 year. The Reserve collection has 2 purpose. The first is to sell to higher network individuals. Allen Edmonds can’t compete with companies such as Crockett & Jones, Edward Green and John Lobb the reserve collection is meant to do this. The second reason is Allen Edmonds is trying to get into Neman Marcus as a vendor. Out of all luxury department stores they have the biggest gross in men’s dress wear. They have tried before and failed due to the amount of sales they have for their main collection and it not being in the price point of their consumer base. The reserve collection is meant to meet that requirement.

    Recommending Cole Hahns is insanity.

A sign of the times. The younger generation is buying those sneaker shoes. And if Alan Edmonds doesn’t sell them, they will buy them from another shoe company.

I have come to believe that shoe companies do not like to make money. I mean all shoe types, dress, sneaker, tennis, running, walking, etc… If you find a show that feels great and everybody loves them, the company will quit making it.
