The Uncomfortable Truth About Dress Shoes

Dress shoes, even wide-fit dress shoes, kind of suck. Why are dress shoes so uncomfortable? The dress shoe of today was built with aesthetics prioritized, not comfort or function. In this video we’ll cover a brief history of dress shoes and what the alternatives are.

I have been a barefoot shoe enthusiast for over six months and I never thought I would ever find a decent looking pair of barefoot dress shoes for more formal occasions like weddings.

The shoes I featured later in this video are from Carets and they’re an earlier version of their Fer shoe. Check them out here

I wear skeletoe style shoes instead of slippers at home, they’re actually classed as a swim shoe but they’re extremely comfortable. I wanted something to replace loose fitting slippers which I could wear with or without socks so I could use them no matter what I was wearing. I’d definitely wear them as shoes to go out in although i did once get the comment “what the hell has that guy got on his feet” when i did go out around town in them. They feel like you’re barefoot but still protect your feet.

Unfortunately, you can buy dress shoes that fit (as well as leather “sneakers”) but you need to spend a lot more money +break in period i.e. , bespoke
