“Wide” not only ‘feels’ better, but it LOOKS BETTER
IMO this is a result of wrong expectations. Do you really need a dress shoe to be this thin, and this flexible? Are you gonna jump around on the rocks in a derby shoes? It’s something you wear to the office or a formal event, not for 5k run or a hike. Barefoot community is a bit dogmatic and doesn’t really think about the practicalities of the situation. The shoe you wear to the office, or to a wedding doesn’t have to have the same level of performance as the shoe you take for a walk, a run, or on a hike, it’s simple as that. A dress shoe can be slightly less flexible, it can have a little heel drop and abit more stack height, and can have a little less toe splay area, simply because you’re not gonna be as active, and you’re not gonna walk on particularly demanding terrain or for a long enough time, for it to really matter.
180 to be made in Vietnam is nuts for a shoe made with not only minimal but also relatively cheap materials.
that’s not a dress shoe….
I have the Birchbury Carnforth shoes and they’re the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever owned
